Re: boyfriend in jail

Generally a Bench Warrant is issued for someone who disobeyed a Court Order so that person can explain to the Court why they should not be found in contempt. The most common failure in Criminal Court is the failure to appear in Court on the date and time ordered. The maximum penalty for Contempt is 6 months in jail, or a $500.00 fine, or both.

Harassing Phone Calls is an enhanceable crime. This means that a second offense has a more severe penalty than a first offense. The first offense is a misdemeanor with penalties similar to Contempt. Multiple offenses can cause a person to be convicted of a felony (a crime that can lead to a penetentary sentence.
