Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
I have been charged with simple battery in livingston louisiana. Im already on probation for another misdemeanor, selling alcohol to a minor. I was attacked by my ex girlfriend and in self defense i pushed her off of me. She landed on her butt and called 911. We both were arrested for simple battery. What are the chances of me staying out of jail?

Dear LawGuru Friend,
Computers play strange tricks on me, and for some
reason I did not see your question until just now,
Tuesday, January 26, 2010...at least for sure it's Tuesday.
(Humor intended!) Sorry about your legal problem! It would be
hard for a lawyer to give you advice based on just the
few facts that have been presented in your question.
Nevertheless, the possibilities range from not so bad to
real bad. However, if you will e-mail me your phone
number, I will call you and discuss this matter with you
further. Of course, there will be no charge for my doing
so. I am now retired from the practice of law after having
been actively engaged in law practice for over 41 years.
Best of luck to you!
With kindest regards, and stanging by awaitng your
e-mail with you phone number, just in case you care to
discuss this further with me, I am
Sincerely,
Hardy Parkerson, J.D.
