Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

child molestation

My daughter was indecently touched by a relative, the grand jury found a ''true bill'' against him. His atty is recommending him plead not guilty, if he does, we go to trial. My child is only six years old and I do not want to put her through this, but I do want him registered sex offender and on parole. Can the state of LA take away my child if I choose to stop the proceedings and do I even have the right to stop the proceedings in order to not put her through this? We just want to get this behind us.

Re: child molestation

Contact the prosecutor. There may be an offense the man could plead guilty to without your daughter testifying. I must warn you that some defendants insist on a trial. If so, your daughter may have to testify.
