clearing my record

i had a ''friend'' pull up a background check and found that a possesion of marijuana charge from 1998 was still on my record i never went to court because i was only issued a citation at a mardi gras parade with no court appearance date {only one guy in our group actually had a joint) now apparentlly i have an attachment and have somehow become a fugitive when i didnt even know i was running from anything if i try to get info im going to have to go down ''there'' and i fear they will arrest me then but i want to solve this matter and move on with my life im up for a job promotion that im sure i wont get because of this what to do

Contact a criminal defense lawyer in that area. The lawyer, with a little proof that you've been openly living your life, can probably get it dismissed.

I assume the Mardi Gras parade was in New Orleans, so you should pay an attorney there, or the Parish where the charge was incurred, and they should be able to handle it fairly easily. If you do not know one in that area, email me and I can give you a couple names. The zip you reported is the New Orleans area so finding a lawyer should not be too hard. Do not let any more time go by before you take care of this. Like most things if you wait any longer it will pop up at the worst time.
