Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
If someone confessed to a felony, was convicted, and was sentenced, then at a later date was pardoned, are they still considered a convicted felon? In other words, how much does the pardon actually absolve? In the case of a sex crime, is that person still a convicted sex offender?

The pardon allows you to vote, carry a firearm, etc. But if asked if you had ever been convicted of a crime, you would have to say yes. An expungement wipes out the conviction. If pardoned for a sex crime you would've relieved of any of the mandatory reportings.
