Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

i was a corrections officer transporting two inmates to lockdown after a fight, its a juvenile center so no handcuffs were used during transport, while exiting the building one of the inmates said to the other "f!@% it lets run". i have only been trained on how to restrain 1 individual at a time in a high crisis situation, so during the process of restraining them i threw some punches and one was deemed that he lost consciousness, the warden said its "looks" like i deliberately did it for no reason at all, i was charged with 2nd degree battery(felony), true enough someone needed medical attention but i was only just trying to do my job and not let the two individuals become a threat to fellow staff members, other inmates, and escape risks. the entire incident was on video, and the two inmates gave statements that they were trying to escape

It appears that the evidence supports your version of events. It is up to the DA to prosecute or not. Make an appointment with the DA and explain your version or allow your attorney to do so for you.
