Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
credit card dispute
I divorced wife in Oct. 2005. She made charges to Bank of America card in amt. of 7000.00 dollars in Dec. of 2006. Bank of America turned me in to collections for the debt, even though the charges occurred over a year after the final divorce. I sent a copy of the divorce decree to B. of A. before collections to try to resolve this, but they said the card was issued in 2000, while we were still married. My issue is that I didn't know there was a card, and even so, she made charges after the divorce was final. What do I do to clear my credit, I contacted all 3 credit agencies, but they are not very helpful.

Re: credit card dispute
Is the card in both of your names? If not, you are not legally responsible for any charges made after the divorce was filed.
