Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
drug trafficking
My paranoid son had told me recently that he was involve in some minor drug traffic. After six months of quitting, he finally told me after being so paranoid because one of his friends recently was caught. He doesnt know if his friend was still doing it or had quit the same time he did. I just want to know if he can still get into trouble after quitting for six months or is it better if i would bring him in and confess, hoping there would me a lesser charge. Thank you
sincerely,
richard

Re: drug trafficking
You have quite a dilemma. I would not presume to tell a parent what he should do about his child. Legally, it depends on if he was using or dealing drugs. If dealing, and there is still evidence out there, then he could be charged. That is, if someone was caught with the drugs and they gave up your son as the seller. If someone "says" your son was dealing, and there is no other evidence, then it is word against word. However, dealing is a felony and so it is very serious. If he was a user, then no one can prove he possessed the drugs once they are used up. So, the ball is back in your court. You could contact an attorney and pay them to do a little investigation for you. But again, the ball is in your court.....
