Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
Expungement
I was convicted of one count of forgery in 1983, at the time I was 18 yrs old. I have been unable to pass a background check. What are my options as far as having this matter taken off my record. My Public defender did not ask for an article 892 or 893. This was my first offense. I did not go to pre trial intervention.

Re: Expungement
If you have been out of trouble since 1983 two things might work.
1. Contact a criminal lawyer in your area and discuss the possibility of being resentenced (to the same basic sentence) under Art. 893. You can then file for the expungement.
2. Contact a criminal lawyer to see what your chances are for getting a "Gold Seal" pardon.
