Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Failing a drug test

What is the time limit a judge can hold someone for failing a urine test at arrignment. I had a friend pick up on possession of cocain 1gram. He bonded out went for arrignment and the judge said she would hold him until his next court date. This was 6 months ago. It will be jan 30th until his next court date. Can she hold him for this. I heard that the only thing that violates a bond is not appearing in court.

Re: Failing a drug test

There can be many conditions placed as a condition of bond. Usually, when one is charged with a drug offense they are to remain alcohol and drug free. For failing a drug screen, he can be found in contempt of court and be sentenced for a period of imprisonment for up to 6 months. He could also have his bond revoked.
