Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Felony Carnal Knowledge of a juvenile

If I know, and have proof that my 15 year old sister is having consentual sex with a 19 year old man can I do anything about it myself. Or does her parent have to turn them in? I am 29, and a mother myself. It makes me sick that nothin is being done about this. She is grounded, and forbidden from seeing him, but sneaks out anyway. He has taken her to bars, and they have had sexual intercourse. Can I turn him in?

You can report a crime. You have to figure out what is the best thing for you to do. It might be better to discuss it with your sister.

I am not saying what is best, merely suggesting that you consider all options.

There are a number of statutory crimes that are being committed. But I agree with Mr. Casanave in telling you that the decision is yours and no one can tell you what to do. Since she is your sister, crimes are being committed against her by a person 4 years older and over 17 years of age. You should do what a sister should do.
