Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
Granting a new trial for someone who has been wrongful convicted of manslaughter
My husband has been wronfully convicted of manslaughter and now he is trying to get a new trial because new witnesses and evidence has been brought forth. The problem is that the person who actually committed the crime is now dead but, he did confess his crime to a few people before he died so I want to know will these new witneses and evidence be admissible in court in order to grant my husband a new trial since the actual person who committed the crime is dead.I just want to know will the people who he confessed to be allowed to tell the truth and testify on what he confessed to or will it be considered as hearsay? Please help me because this is so unfair. Thank you so much!

If there is new, substantial evidence, then there can be a new trial.
