Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Hi,

My boyfriend is serving a 10 year sentence for armed robbery that he committed at 18 years old (while on drugs...). He robbed a small store with an unloaded gun, not pointed at anyone, although I realize now that this doesn't make a difference. He is 4 years into his sentence and has been a trusty for the past 4 years, held in very high regards by the Sheriff at the jail he is in. The D.A. told him that the only way he could be released early would be to have the victim agree to a sentence reduction hearing. My question is if he would possibly be eligible for something like house arrest, and also how long of a process would a commutation of sentence be? I'm sure everyone says this, but he is a completely different person now (at age 24) and attends church regularly, is a very hard worker, etc.

He is past the time period to have his sentence reconsidered. When he has 3 years left of his sentence he may qualify for work release.
