Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Indictment timelimit following search and seizure

Is there a time limit to charge a person with a crime after a search warrant of their home a seizure of personal property and documents?. A search warrant was conducted and items were removed from my home including computers, personal banking information, various papers but I was not arrested. Looking for evidence of identity theft, whomever names looking for was not found however, computers and other info was taken and it has been 2 months now and I have heard nothing. I have hired an attorney but have heard nothing of charges or indictments. How long does it usually take to charge? Can I request a return of my property? One item was rented from a rental company that I am still paying on. Another item was a private video of my signif. other and I. Even obituarys of family members and my newborn child who passed away were taken. Is there a time limit to say ''whew'' Im not being charged with anything or could it take up to what amount of time?. I am hoping no news is good news but I am wondering what's going on now. Hopefully there were bigger fish to fry after the search of my home showed minor attempts but no lavish successess at any large criminal activity. The search warrant was ligit & exect. by Postal Serv. & Police 2 mnts ago

Re: Indictment timelimit following search and seizure

You need to stop writing on public sites and stick with what your attorney tells you. Your computer activities could be monitored. However, for what is worth, 2 months is just the beginning. It can take much much longer. So, listen to your attorney and if you think it is taking too long, he can file a motion asking the court to have the authorities release your property.
