Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
Is the lawyer telling me truth?
Having paid an attorney in a crimnal matter for my son, do I have a right to ask for a statement of expenses? This matter has not progressed at this time I already have a debit.I have given him quite a sum. How would I go about locating another attorney, and firing this one if I feel like he is not representing my son's best interest? What rights would I have under law to see the file? I am just extremly upset with all this at this time and need a few answers to put my mind at ease.

Did you sign the contract? If so, did you get a copy of it?
If it is a flat fee, then your son owes the payoff. If the fee is hourly, then an itemized statament is in order.
