Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
Legal Age for consentual Sex
I am confused about the legal age to have sex with an older man. If we are talking about a 17 yr old girl and a 25 yr old married man, what can happen. I thought that the law stated that the sex can be consentual if the other party was within 2 years of age. When I asked my attorney, she said that it is just that 17 is the consentual age, no matter what else. I am not sure why I thought it was the other way around. I learned that from somewhere. Can you please help me out with this.
Thanks

Re: Legal Age for consentual Sex
For purposes of sexual consent, in Louisiana, but not in all states, 17 is the age of consent with adults. The gender of the younger person is irrelevant.
