Under Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure, a first offender never previously convicted of a felony in Louisiana or in any other state or in federal court, is automatically pardoned upon completion of his sentence.
The department of corrections, division of probation and parole is supposed to issue a certificate to you and the clerk of court in the parish where you were convicted that you are fully pardoned. So, you should have a copy or can get one from the clerk of court. This first offender pardon does allow you to own and use a firearm.

There are certain offenses which, although the first offender pardon is given, it does not return the right to bear arms. Read tour pardon certificate carefully.
