Is marijuana a controlled dangerous substance? A friend of mine was recently caught with marijuana by a park and he was wondering why they told him he was in the pocession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Yes it is. First offense is a misdemeanor and carries up to 6 months in jail. Second offense is a felony and carries up to 5 years in jail and third offense carries up to 20 years in jail.
