Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Marijuana cultivation; innocent family on property

I will keep this as short as possible.

This is not myself, this is no one I know. But I do need your advice as quick as possible.

In this story, there is a male over age 45, separated but living with his ex-wife, over age 55. The male is cultivating plants (8-11 plants, quite possibly 12 or more) and the wife and their 19-year old child (a student in college) have no knowledge.

The male does smoke in the household, which would result in residual levels in both the innocents cases.

The elder female is currently on social security, and is disabled.

The child needs to know how to release herself and her mother from this situation without herself or her mother being put in jail. Their property means very much to them, as they do indeed own the land their houses are on.

The child can move out of state (into Texas) with her sister, over the age of 30. So can the mother, if need be. But this would result in delaying the child's college for a full year. They will not move out of their property if the male is still living in their household.

What are your suggestions so that the two may come out of this with as much property as possible, and without entering jail?

Thank you for your time.

I would suggest that the wife & the 19 year-old get a lawyer who can arrange a way to resolve this issue with law enforcement before they learn of it on their own.
