misdemeanor while on probation

my son was arrested for criminal trespass while he was only 2wks into a 3 yr probation. the charges were dropped by the so called victim but not D.A.he pled not guilty and has to sit in jail another 4 mos on probation hold, til next court date.should he had just pled guilty?

These are questions for his attorney. My guess is his attorney is trying to work out something on the new charges and the probation for a plea deal in his best interest.
