Does a misdemeanor get removed from your record after a certain about of time? I pled no contest.

No. The law allows certain convictions to be removed from your criminal history, provided, it is pled under La. C.Cr.P. Arts. 893 (felony) or 894 (misdemeanors). If you did not plea under the appropriate expungment statute, the court will typically allow you to expunge the conviction, provided, that it is not excluded as an offense within the statute. Assuming that your offense is one that can be expunged, then you will need to go to the Clerk of Court and request an expungement packet. Fill out the packet and file it into court. The District Attorny will be allowed time to respond with an objection. Should the DA not object, the Judge will sign the order expunging the conviction and you will be required to pay all fees to process the order. Please note that after the expungement order is processed, that criminal charge will only be hidden from the publics view and not from law enforcement nor govenmental entities.
