Re: What is Motion for Shock Probation

Dear Friend,

Of course, he can be helped. You say "for his first time." Do you mean this may be his first time in prison, or his first time to be convicted of a felony? If this is his first felony conviction--assuming he is convicted: is found guilty of pleads guilty--he is probably eligible for an 893 plea and sentence. That refers to Article 893 of the LOUISIANA CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE, which you can access and read by looking at the Louisiana Legislature's website and then click on Louisiana Laws and on the LOUISIANA CODE OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE. Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions or to send him off to prison! Make sure he has a good criminal lawyer. Feel free to call me and discuss this with me free of charge. My phone number is easy to find. Best of luck to you and him both!

Sincerely,
