Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
First offender Pardon
I received a first offender pardon from the state of Lousiana in May of 2006. I completed my probation in the state of Florida for a marijuana charge that occurred in the state of Louisiana. My work requires a Full pardon in order to receive a security clearance. I filed for a clemency hearing and in the month of October I was requested to do an advertisement. Yesterday, I contacted the pardon board and they stated that a clemency investigation was the next step. That same day I received a phone call from the probation office in Louisiana and was told I now need to complete 5 more years of probation and the Louisiana made a mistake by giving me a first offender pardon. Is this legal and what are my rights?
