office manager forged payroll checks in my name

I was notified today my employers office manager forged over $10,000 worth of payroll checks in my name.I had to sign affidavits at the bank stating the endorsements were not my signature.This person is being charged with 145 counts of forgery.6 of these checks had my employers signature forged on them but 3 others were signed by him.I have asked what do I do about taxes that were taken out and how do I protect myself but I don't get any answers,so I'm asking what can I do to protect myself.Can I sue this person or my employer or the place of business where these checks were cashed?Do I need to file charges with the police on my own and not trust my employer to do so?You,re help is greatly appreciated.Thank you

Assuming you had absolutely nothing to do with the thefts, I don't see where you have anything to worry about. The office manager or someone assisting him, did the forging of the checks and/or the forging of endorsements.........and he/they got the money. Therefore, they did the crime, not you. There is nothing to worry about concerning the taxes taken out. I doubt very seriously if the thief took the time to deposit withholding funds, since the "payroll" checks were forgeries anyway. I am curious about one thing though, why did he use just your name, or were you just one of many they used to write "extra" payroll checks?
