If I plead guilty under 894 to a theft under $500.00 when they ask if I have ever been convicted of a crime do I stated yes.

Pleading guilty under 894 is only the first step. This statute allows you to petition the court for an expungement of the conviction, one year after the conviction. Once you actually receive the judgment of expungement, then you can say you have no convictions on your record.
