Re: police search
There are so many variables, that it is almost impossible to answer but here goes. Basically, he can "search" what he can see. Anything in plain view is subject to confiscation. If he sees or has reason to believe a crime has been committed and to wait for a warrant would most probably lead to the loss of evidence, then he can search. If he is following a suspect who takes refuge in a building he can enter after that suspect. Now, he cannot just walk into any house and begin searching. He cannot just walk onto private property and begin to look into closed containers. There always has to be more to allow warrantless and permissionless searches.
