prescriptive period
what does this mean? does this mean from the day the act accured?

It has many meanings according to what the situation is. Example: You have a wreck on November 25, 2008-basically you have 1 year to file suit for your damages. November 26th is day 1 of the 365 day prescriptive period.....so, basically again, November 25, 2009 is the last day, at midnight that you have to file the suit...that is bascially your basic example.
