Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
press bigamy charges
My husband admitted that he is still married to his first wife whom resides in California. We were married in Covington, LA. His wife sent me a letter stating there was no divorce filed. I checked every county that I know of where he resided and could not find any records for a divorce. I want to press bigamy charges and need to know where to go from here. I have an annullment pending to dissolve our marriage. I reside Florida, so therefore I have a Florida attorney handling the dissoulution of marriage.

Re: press bigamy charges
Each state has its own jurisdictional rules for criminal matters. I believe the "safest" jurisdiction is St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana since that is where the violating wedding occurred.
Any place where you lived together as husband and wife might have jurisdiction.
