Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
Probation Violations
My friend had 6 months left on his probation when he got violated. He went to court and they sentenced him to 6 months in the IMPACT bootcamp, plus probation after he completed it. Can he go back to court and get less time? Isn't that a little much for probation violations? Also, how does the 90 days work for probation violations, he was told he didn't qualify for it.

Re: Probation Violations
Your friend could have been forced to serve the entire term of his suspended sentence without the IMPACT program. You say he had 6 months left on his probation, but how much time did he have hanging over his head?
If he was on felony probation, I am sure it was more than 6 months.
The judge must have wanted to give him a chance because he recommended him for IMPACT.
