Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

Get protection for an inmate

My fiancee is in prison in Kinder, LA. I am in TX. We have an attorney in TX but being he is in LA there is nothing he can do to help us. My fiancee was recently attacked by another inmate and yes he fought back but for self defense. He got put in isolation for 90 days and I don't think he is getting treated fairly. He asked several times to be moved to another tier for his safety but was ignored and now this has happened and he is being punished for protecting himself after he already warned the guards and captains and case manager. Is there anything that can be done to help him?

Re: Get protection for an inmate

Dear Friend,

The answer to your question is YES. He needs to contact a lawyer who is interested in this type of case. Reporesenting such prisoners n such a situaiton is not easy, since prisoners cannot go see their lawyers; it's the other way around. We are not supposed to use this site to solicit business, and I am not doing so. Nevertheless, I shall be glad to discuss this matter with you if you should call me. No charge for just talking on the phone. I am not easy to catch, but can be gotten on the phone by either a direct call or a return call, should you leave your name and number on voice mail. My number is listed. There are many good Louisiana and/or Southwest Louisiana laywers who can also discuss this matter with you. I suggest a Louisiana lawyer and one near to where the problem has occurred. Best of luck to you and him!

Sincerely,

Hardy Parkerson, Atty. - Lake Charles, LA
