Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana

My son was 16 when this happened in Los Angeles, CA and was put on probation til the age of 21. He has done everything that was requested on his sentence. We went to see his probation officer yesterday, we now live in Louisiana and his probation officer has been requesting for him to get off since he is 18 and will be 19 in April. She stated that California laws are different that Louisiana but he has not been in any trouble. Can he still fight this charge or does he have to finish this until he's 21? Please advise?

Once sentenced, it is up to the probation department and the judge to decide when to terminate probation.

Since he was charged and sentenced in California, that Judicial System decides the outcome. The Courts here do not have authority to revise the California Sentence unless the California Court transfers the case to a comparable Louisiana Court and the Louisiana Court accepts it. The probation was transferred but not the court case. It is very unusual for this type of transfer to happen. California will decide if he gets earlier release.
