Legal Question in Criminal Law in Louisiana
statue of limitation
I worked for a company and they claimed I forged documents for tax purposes, I was charged with theft over $500.I was charged with this federal charge 2 years ago this date. The feds drop the charges 4 months ago and now the company wants the state to pick up charges. Do I have any statue of limitation with the state, since it has been two years.
Thank you ,
Jeff

Re: statue of limitation
The real question is "How long ago did the alleged theft occur?" That is the date the statute of limitations (called "prescription" in Louisiana) runs from, not the date the federal government charged you.
