i was out of town and missed a court date for a traffic ticket and this is my first ticket is it possible for me to pay the ticket without getting arrested

Yes. If you go into court on your own (i.e., don't wait to be arrested), the Judge will almost certainly withdraw the arrest warrant. There will be a fine for contempt of court added to the charge, since you missed your court date.
If you are not guilty of the offense, you can still fight the charge and reset the matter for trial. You would still likely have to pay the contempt fee, but the charge would be tried later. I would recommend talking to a traffic attorney about representing you before you go in. You may be able to protect your driving record as well.
