I was arrested October 25, 2009 for third offense DWI in Louisiana. I spent thirty days incarcerated, thirty days in rehabilitation, and have been living in a recovery home since December 27, 2009. I was accepted into a drug program called Drug Court in my parish last April. Due to my progress, the court thought it best to transfer me to the neighboring parish, where I now reside in the recovery home, because the atmosphere helps protect my recovery. Since then, there has been a hang up in transferring my case. Drug court is a two to three year program I am eager to begin but I am constantly being pushed back. After all my efforts, progress, and sobriety, shouldn't I be able to plea to a second offense with proper representation?
