Legal Question in DUI Law in Louisiana

DWI offense after felony conviction

In 2000 my father went to court on 6 DWI charges. The court agreed to drop 2 if he pled guilty on 2 and he went to court on 4. He was convicted and sentenced to 10yrs, 8 of those were suspended, leaving a 2 yr felony conviction. He served 1 yr and was released. He recently was arrested and charged with another DWI and driving with a suspended license, will this be a 5th offense he goes for and what is the probable conviction ?

Re: DWI offense after felony conviction

Of the six charges, how many convictions came out of it? If I understand you correctly, he was convicted or pleaded guilty of 4 DWI charges?

It would seem he is looking at a second fourth offense DWI which can be anywhere from 10 to 30 years.

He can also be revoked on the remaining portion of his probated sentence depending on certain circumstances. He needs to consult with an attorney as soon as possible.
