I live in Louisiana, the dwi statute for a third offense dwi in 2011 calls for one year to five years in jail with one year no parole, probation or suspension of sentence. My question is if i am given one year will the good-time law apply so that I will do 5 months on that one year or will I have to do the entire year. La good time law was changed this year to 35 days for every thitry days of incarceration for nonviolent crimes

Good time depends on your behaviour and the will of the warden. It is not guaranteed. Before spending the year in jail, you will have to go through an inpatient program. Significant jail time does not kick in until rehabilitation has been attempted.
