Legal Question in DUI Law in Louisiana

I got a third time dwi arrest in 2002. I was charged with a felony. This resulted from just driving while intoxicated (there were no injuries nor damages involved with this conviction). Will this felony stay on my record for the rest of my life or will it be taken off after a certain length of time? Several years ago I receive a first time pardon for this conviction and I would like to know exactly what this means. Thank you for your assistance.

A 3rd offense DWI is a felony, regardless of whether you are in an accident or not. However, if you were pardoned, you may be able to move to have your arrest and conviction expunged off your record. That way, it will not show up in employment checks, background checks, etc. However, it will still appear to the Courts and may still be used as a prior strike if you get in trouble again, or get another DWI.
