How many years between dwi offenses does it not effect your sentence?

10 years. One problem is, is the time does no begin to run until the sentencing, which is usually at the plea of guilty or verdict of guilty. Sometimes the DWI happened 2 years before the guilty verdict so the 10 years does not begin to run until then.

A DWI can be used to enhance a subsequent DWI for ten (10) years from the conviction date. Any periods where the offender is incarcerated do not count against the ten years. In other words if the person is in jail for two years the conviction can be used for twelve years.
