Legal Question in Education Law in Louisiana
I am a 17 years old girl. I have completed the requirements for high school. I am trying to graduate in January, my counselor approved it, but my mother is trying to make me attended school until May. I have already been accepted and enrolled into two colleges, University of Southern Mississippi(USM) and Southern University of New Orleans(SUNO), for the Spring 2011 semester. I used to live in Hattiesburg where USM is located and had a job. I also have a Regional Scholarship,a award representing the full waiver of out-of-state tuition. Can my mom legally stop me from graduating from high school and stop me from going to college this semester?
