Legal Question in Education Law in Louisiana
A private school has a field trip and a bus is secured for the teachers, chaperones, and students to ride there and back. A parent follows in her car and when the field trip tour is over she takes her child to ride with her to an appointment they have instead of going back home with the rest of the class. If something happens to the student while riding with the parent is the school responsible?

No, because the parent was the one that took the child. If it were someone else who took the child, the school could be.
