My son is 16 - plays acoustic guitar and has been approached by several establishments to play - i would be with him at all times and he of course would not be served. Will Louisiana law allow that.

Yes. He can work as an entertainer in the establishment so long as he is not a customer (e.g., drinking). To be safe, you should make sure there is no alcohol anywhere on stage when he is performing and he should only drink from marked bottles, like water bottles or coke bottles, not cups that could appear to a casual observer to be a mixed drink.

Frankly, why would a bar want a 16 year old to play guitar in their place? To attract customers of course. Well, you did not say he worked for a band or had a band.......if he is so good adults want to hear him, he need not be in a bar for that. However, tons of successful performers have started that way, but many more tons of UNSUCCESSFUL performers have started that way. So be careful. Call the Attorney General, Buddy Caldwell, and someone with his office can assist you. I know for a fact that Buddy is a musical performer, so he has alot of insight into what you are asking.......more than merely, make sure there is no alcohol on stage. Good luck.
