adoption by non relative

what rights do i have to a child i've had custody of for 5 years even though i'm not a blood relative?

Contact an attorney. If the circumstances are right you might be able to adopt.

I believe you have a reasonable chance to adopt, but if either parent objects, then you will have to have grounds to terminate their parental rights.
