Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Adoption

I am recently married and my husband wants to adopt my 5 year old daughter. I don't know who her biological father is, so how would we go about doing this type of adoption?

Re: Adoption

You would need to make sure there is noone that filed a certificate with the putative father registry. Also, an attorney would need to be appointed to represent the unknown father.

You should definetly consult with an attorney to make sure the adoption is done correctly.

Re: Adoption

Find an attorney who will file an intrafamily adoption. The attorney will take care of contacting the putative father registry, the clerk of court where the child was born and appoint an attorney to represent the unknown father. It is a process that can be accomplished, start to finish, in about 90 days.
