Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Adoption

I am re-marrying in January and my fiance' wants to adopt my kids. Neither father pays court ordered support. What do we need to do to get the fathers' to sign over rights?

Re: Adoption

After you marry, you can file an Intrafamily Adoption. I have done many of these, and the easiest way is for you to be co-Petitioner and notify the fathers, claiming they have forfeited their rights to object by failing to pay support for over 6 consecutive months. If they do object, then there is a hearing and the Judge decides whether they supported their child during pregnancy and after birth.
