Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana
Adoption and Rights
A couple date. The girl gets pregnant. The guy does not want to marry. They go their separate way. She has the child; he takes the praternity test. The child is his. She, and her parents, requests for him to give up all rights over the child, in order for her to go on with her life and the child's, and have no strings attached. He decides to agree, because of his unsettled life; and knowing he has 2 children to support from a previous marriage. Ever since, there has been no communication with the mother or the child, which were her wishes.
Now, 4 years later, he is in a second marriage, with 2 more children, and being very settled and a great father. Not a day goes by, that the child is not in his mind. His heart is breaking, and he would like to do something about this, but does not want to ruffle any feathers.
The mother of the child married, and now her husband wants to adopt the child.
With God's grace, is there any hope for the biological father???????
Can the child be adopted without the biological father's knowledge? Is there any chance now, or in the future, in any way, shape, or form, that this father and child can reunite?
Thanks, for your time and effort to read this. We appreciate it very much!

Re: Adoption and Rights
I see you gave us more details this time. The bio father's right to consent to an intrafamily adoption is not necessary if he has not seen his child in more than 6 months UNLESS there is a VERY COMPELLING reason why. The child has its own life without his bio dad. I would counsel him to let the child have its life take care of the kids he already has.
