Adoption

I have a 18 year old step daughter who wants me to adopt her. I would like to know how i go about it.

It is very simple. Adoption is accomplished by notarial act. However, the state will not issue a new birth certificate with your name on it as the father unless you go through a full blown adoption. So, in order for her to inherit from you as a natural child would, you simply do the adoption by notarial act.

Adult adoption is very simple. You both need to sign an affidavit in front of a notary and two witnesses declaring your intentions.
