in the state of LA what if any proof is needed in order to name the person your spouse is having an affair with in the divorce petion?

I suggest you consult a lawyer.

While the name of the other person does not need to be proven the adultery must be proven.

Many persons find that, considering the ease and low cost of "no fault" divorce, adultery is too complex, painful or expensive to prove. Unless there is a serious issue of the adulterer receiving significant spousal support it may not be worth the trouble.
