In the state of Louisiana, How long does

a parent have to be away from their

child for it to be considered

abandonment and have their parental

rights terminated?

If you are looking to do an intrafamily adoption, a parent who has not communicated or visited with a child for a period of six months or if the parent has refused or failed to pay child support pursuant to a court order for a period of six months, the consent of the parent is not necessary.
