Child custody

My child's mother leaves him with other people that she does not really know and not a relative. She has 5 children and the last on she had is the only one that she has with her. She has lost two other children for the same thing. one she lost to a lady who she left her daughter with and the lady took her to court and got custody. The other one she lost to his father for the same thing. I want to get my son. I am a katrina victim and don't have much money, so how can I get help.

Contact Legal Aid/Legal services for help.

If the situation is bad enough for child protective services to intervene, then a home study can be done of your home. If you and your home are satisfactory the child should be placed with you.

I agree with Mr. Casanave, however, I believe you should contact the Office of Community Service in the parish where your son is and tell them your concerns. They will investigate. Please do it right away.
