Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

child custody

So my daughter is 2 and a 1/2 now.

Her mother has had almost nothing

to do with her since she was born.

She came around a couple days

every month or so for the first year

and now hasn't lived in the same

state as me and my child for over a

year only visiting once or twice over

the year for maybe a day or two. She

does not pay child support nor do i

want her to. As of now i have Co-

custody of her with me being the

domicile parent, where she is only

suppose to get her for 2 weekends a

month but like i said she doesn't

even live here. Now I am worried

that i'm raising my daughter alone

and she is my entire world and i am

fine with that, but i don't want her

mother to be able to come back in

the picture a few years from now

after the baby is all grown up and

able to take care of herself and try to

fight me for rights and take my

daughter from me at all after i had

raised her by myself and she has

done nothing for her. Is there

anything i can do to prevent her from

coming back in 3-4 years and

deciding she wants to play mom then

since my daughter is old enough to

do for herself and is in school then?

Re: child custody

First of all, child support is for the child, not you. You should have had the court assign child support to her. If you are married, and your wife wishes to adopt the child, then see a family law specialist, or adoption specialist to find out how you can do that. If she truly has not been around, there is little chance the mother could get the child unless you are not being frank about all of the circumstances.
